WHOOP made recovery scoring mainstream, and its strain model is still the most coherent training-load system in consumer wearables. There's no screen, which is the point: you're not meant to check it, you're meant to read the morning summary. The trade is total lock-in — the hardware has no standalone value, and the membership is the product. Its sleep staging is decent but generally trails Oura in head-to-head validation work.
Is the measurement validated?
Reasonable agreement with polysomnography for total sleep time; stage-level accuracy is middling, as with all wrist devices. Heart-rate accuracy is good at rest, less so during high-intensity intervals.
