No other consumer device carries as many cleared medical features: a single-lead ECG, irregular-rhythm notifications, fall and crash detection, and more recently sleep-apnea notifications. Battery life means overnight wear takes planning, and its sleep staging is weaker than a dedicated ring. But it is the hub of Apple Health, which makes it the single best on-ramp for getting everything else into one place — including Whatstack.
Is the measurement validated?
The ECG and AFib features are FDA-cleared and independently studied — genuinely clinical-grade for what they claim. Sleep staging is unremarkable. Blood-oxygen availability has varied by region and model because of patent litigation, so check before buying for that feature.

Watch out
Battery makes 24/7 wear a chore. If sleep is your main question, a ring beats it.
