What snoring actually is
- A narrowing airway
Snoring is turbulent airflow vibrating the soft tissues of a narrowed airway. Benign primary snoring — no pauses, no daytime sleepiness — is mainly a partner problem. But loud snoring plus witnessed pauses, gasping, morning headaches, nocturia, or daytime sleepiness is a red flag for apnea and warrants a proper test. Snoring that worsens sharply with alcohol or lying on your back points the same way. Evidence ●●●●○
